What does it mean to be smart?
Is achieving high scores on IQ tests or school ability tests, is proof that someone is smart or not.Does smart people are those who have fantastic memory? The schools are often singled out children who have high scores and they always pay more attention than those with lower scores.
In practice, the mind is defined as the ability to solve problems and quickly understand. Speed is identified and adopted as a feature of the intellect.
Dr. Howard Gardner in his book 'Frames of Mind', speaks of seven kinds of intelligence. He believes that intelligence is measured very closely.
There is seven types of intelligence by Gardner that can help to organize the categories of the intellect, seven ways to better understand our nature.
First. VERBAL INTELLIGENCE. Intelligence words. It refers to words and language, the ability to think and communicate in verbal terms. Being clever lexical.
Second. VISUAL INTELLIGENCE. Intelligence picture. Based on Sense of vision or ability to visualize, the ability to think through the forms or schedules, to interpret symbols and imagine possibilities. If someone has a visual intelligence, they will likely to draw their ideas on paper and present as images.
Third. PHYSICAL INTELLIGENCE. Intelligence of the body. Refers to the physical movement: the ability to "mind body", to understand things with the help of physical contact; knowledge through touch.
Fourth. MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE. Musical mind. Based on someones ability to recognize melodic motifs and musical thought, that instinctively feel melodic, rhythmic and harmonic 'events', to use sound and rhythm of the eloquent expression of thoughts.
Fifth. MATHEMATICAL and LOGICAL INTELLIGENCE. A logical mind. Sometimes referred to as the scientific intelligentsia, it is based on the power of reasoning and the possibility of handling numbers and formulas, and building a system of argumentation.
Sixth. INTERPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE. The social mind. Directs our relationships with other people; high empathy is characteristic of this type of intellect and helps us to have a good relationship with all types of people.
Seventh. INTRA-PERSONAL INTELLIGENCE. The inner mind. It refers to our ability to look inside our self and understand our self, our essence and feelings. A strong sense of self.
